We have listed here some of the bladder conditions and symptoms for which alpha blockers may be prescribed by your GP or health professional.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia – some types of alpha blockers are prescribed to prevent hormones from causing the gland to enlarge and eventually to make it shrink, while other types of alpha blockers are prescribed to relax the muscular element of the prostate and the bladder muscles, reducing the pressure on the urethra, therefore making urination easier.
Chronic non-bacterial prostatitis is also treated with alpha-blockers, paracetamol and ibuprofen.
